  1. National awards are meant ONLY for social and national service which helps to improve our economy, standard of life, value systems etc in the eyes of the world to get us name and fame - BUT is being misused for sports, film folks who amass lots of money and do little for the country in most cases; they can be honoured with Sports and Entertainment awards in recognition of their talents - we talked ill of Rao Sahib, Rao Bahadur of British Govt but continue same trend with different titles; PITY there is NO sense of justice in our Govt at top and many are "corrupt" to the core to please chamchas and chelaas !!!

  2. This awarding system is entirely flawed. This is the system where Rajiv gandhi gets Bharat Ratna before Vallabhbhai Patel and MGR gets before Dr BR Ambedkar gets. Some are demanding Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar. I don't see any logic behind this. The area of achievement should be directly related to improving the country tangibly. This is the same even in international politics. In 2009, when Obama got Nobel for his lifetime achievement, I was astonished. In a nutshell, it was, "Life time achievement award for a debutant"

  3. The awarding systems, especially for Padma awards, must
have sanctity, to bring about what exactly the awardee has contributed to the country, by its value to the society and not because high recommendations pour in from high quarters, and are to be generally endorsed by public at large.Every satellite lanuch from Sriharikota assures some Padma awards for some;glamorous actors from Bollywood are a sure bet- what is it these awardees have specifically contributed? It is time they refuse such awards, if they have any conscience.
