- Devendra Fadnavis was on Friday sworn in as Chief Minister of the first BJP govt in Maharashtra at a grand ceremony. 44-year-old Fadnavis, a fourth time MLA and the second Brahmin to occupy the top post in the state, was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor C Vidyasagar Rao at the Wankhede Stadium in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, several Union ministers and veterans L K Advani and MM Joshi among others.
- Former Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson, wanted in India in connection with the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy which claimed over 3,000 lives in one of the world's most lethal industrial accidents, has died in the US state of Florida aged 92.
-  India's Pankaj Advani clinched the World Billiards Championship (time format) title to bag a record 12th world crown and also complete a rare 'Grand Double' post his third win in both the long and short formats in the same year.

- India re-elected to UN Economic and Social Council. India has overwhelmingly won its re-election to the UN body on economic and social issues, garnering the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific group. The 193-member UN General Assembly elected 18 members of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2015.
- Petrol price was on Friday cut by Rs 2.41 a litre, the sixth reduction since August, and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre on back of falling international oil rates.
- Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh receive one of the highest civilian Honours of Japan Dr. Manmohan recieve “The Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers”, one of the highest civilian Honours of Japan.
-  Former Israeli President Shimon Peres meet he meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday articulated his strong desire to further expand and strengthen India’s relations with Israel, both in traditional areas as well as in new areas of cooperation.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made his debut among the world’s most powerful people, ranked 15th on the Forbes list topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin who pipped his US counterpart Barack Obama for a second year in a row. The list of 72 most powerful people in the world also included the names of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at 36th, ArcelorMittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal at 57th and Microsoft’s Indian-born CEO Satya Nadella at 64th.
- 8th National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Film Bazaar, held every year on the sidelines of IFFI, is all set to begin in Goa from November 22. The four-day event aims to encourage collaboration between the international and South Asian film fraternity.
- Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi gave its approval for withdrawing the Food Safety and Standards (Amendment) Bill, 2014 as introduced in the Rajya Sabha on 19.02.2014
- Prime Minister, Narendra Modi visited Jayapur village of Varanasi district. He announced that as the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Varanasi, he had selected Jayapur as the village under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
- China on Thursday presented its best face at APEC summit by lifting ban on social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter for the first time and even allowing web search of the Dalai Lama at the conference venue.
